The Bacon Bowl

You might have seen the late night informational where you can buy special containers to shape a bacon bowl. However if you have a microwave, a paper towel and a small microwave safe bowl, you can easily create a bacon bowl in minutes. The paper towel also helps shape the bowl and control grease splatter. Once you remove the bacon bowl and paper towel, you may wish to reserve the leftover bacon grease for another recipe.

PREP TIME: 3 Minutes COOK TIME: 2 1/2 Minutes

INGREDIENTS

  • 2 Strips Bacon, Thick Cut
  • 1 Small Microwave Safe Bowl
  • 1 Paper Towel

SERVES 1: 160 Calories per Bowl

NOTE: If your microwave is large enough to create two of these bowls at once, increase cook time to 3 1/2 minutes. The bowls will also be hot. Please make sure you use a potholder to remove them from the microwave.

DIRECTIONS:

  1. Line the bowl with a paper towel.
  2. Wrap the first piece of bacon inside the paper toweled around the bottom edge of the bowl leaving about a 2 inch circular hole in the bottom.
  3. Cut the second piece of bacon into thirds. Evenly place the three pieces to fill in the bottom of the bacon bowl making sure each piece slightly connects to the first piece of bacon.
  4. Place bowl in microwave for 2 1/2 minutes. (Depending on your elevation or microwave wattage a little less or more time may be required.)
  5. Let bacon rest 3 minutes. Remove from bowl. Fill as desired. Try adding in our Cucumber, Mint and Feta Salad recipe.
